G#m Ukulele Chord Explanation

The G# minor chord, also known as an Abm, contains the notes G#-B-D#.

To build a G#m chord, take the minor triad formula (1-b3-5) and apply it to the G# major scale (G#-A#-B#-C#-D#-E#-F##).

Identify the first, third, and fifth scale degrees in a G# major scale which are G#-B#-D#.

Because the chord G#m is a minor chord, lower the third scale degree a half step in accordance with the minor triad formula, which results in the notes G#-B-D# for the G# minor chord.
