How To Play The G#add9 Ukulele Chord
To play the G#add9 chord, perform a barre by pressing your index finger on the C-string and bottom-A string on the 3rd fret, ring finger on the 5th fret of the top g-string, and little finger on the 6th fret of the E-string.
G#add9 Ukulele Chord Explanation
The Abadd9 chord, also known as a G#add9, but sometimes referred to as an Absus2 or G#sus2 chord, contains the notes Ab-C-Eb-Bb.
To build an Abadd9 chord, take the major triad formula (1-3-5) and add in the theoretical ninth scale degree (1-3-5-9) using the Ab major scale, which has the notes Ab, Bb, C, Db, Eb, F, G.
Notice how a major scale has just seven notes. How do we get the ninth scale degree? Repeat the scale and count nine notes:
Ab, Bb, C, Db, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C, Db, Eb, F, G
Note: The ninth scale degree is underlined.
Identify the first, third, fifth, and ninth scale degrees in the Ab major scale which are Ab-C-Eb-Bb.
