To play the Badd9 chord, place the ring finger on the 4th fret of the top g-string, middle finger on the 3rd fret of the C-string, index finger on the 2nd fret of the E-string, and little finger on the 4th fret of the bottom A-string.
The Badd9 chord, sometimes referred to as a Bsus2 chord, contains the notes B-D#-F#-C#.
To build a Badd9 chord, take the major triad formula (1-3-5) and add in the theoretical ninth scale degree (1-3-5-9) using the B major scale, which has the notes B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#, A#.
Notice how a major scale has just seven notes. How do we get the ninth scale degree? Repeat the scale and count nine notes:
B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#, A#, B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#, A#
Note: The ninth scale degree is underlined.
Identify the first, third, fifth, and ninth scale degrees in the B major scale which are B-D#-F#-C#.
