How To Play The Dbadd9 Ukulele Chord
To play the Dbadd9 chord, place the ring finger on the 6th fret of the top g-string, middle finger on the 5th fret of the C-string, index finger on the 4th fret of the E-string, and little finger on the 6th fret of the bottom A-string.
Dbadd9 Ukulele Chord Explanation
The Dbadd9 chord, also known as a C#add9, but sometimes referred to as a Dbsus2 or C#sus2 chord, contains the notes Db-F-Ab-Eb.
To build a Dbadd9 chord, take the major triad formula (1-3-5) and add in the theoretical ninth scale degree (1-3-5-9) using the Db major scale, which has the notes Db, Eb, F, Gb, Ab, Bb, C.
Notice how a major scale has just seven notes. How do we get the ninth scale degree? Repeat the scale and count nine notes:
Db, Eb, F, Gb, Ab, Bb, C, Db, Eb, F, Gb, Ab, Bb, C
Note: The ninth scale degree is underlined.
Identify the first, third, fifth, and ninth scale degrees in the Db major scale which are Db-F-Ab-Eb.
