How To Play The Caug Ukulele Chord

To play the Caug chord, place the index finger on the 1st fret of the top g-string and ring finger on the 3rd fret of the bottom A-string. Let the other strings ring open.

Caug Ukulele Chord Explanation

The Caug chord contains the notes C-E-G#.

To build a Caug chord, take the augmented triad formula (1-3-#5) and apply it to the C major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A, B).

Identify the first, third, and fifth scale degrees in a C major scale which are C-E-G.

Because the fifth scale degree is a "#5" (said "sharp five") raise the G note a half step to G# making the chord augmented with the notes C-E-G#.
