How To Play The Gadd9 Ukulele Chord
To play the Gadd9 chord, place the index finger on the 2nd fret of the C-string and ring finger on the 3rd fret of the E-string. Let the other strings ring open.
Gadd9 Ukulele Chord Explanation
The Gadd9 chord, sometimes referred to as a Gsus2 chord, contains the notes G-B-D-A.
To build a Gadd9 chord, take the major triad formula (1-3-5) and add in the theoretical ninth scale degree (1-3-5-9) using the G major scale, which has the notes G, A, B, C, D, E, F#.
Notice how a major scale has just seven notes. How do we get the ninth scale degree? Repeat the scale and count nine notes:
G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G, A, B, C, D, E, F#
Note: The ninth scale degree is underlined.
Identify the first, third, fifth, and ninth scale degrees in the G major scale which are G-B-D-A.
