A#add9 Ukulele Chord Explanation

The Bbadd9 chord, also known as an A#add9, but sometimes referred to as a Bbsus2 or A#sus2 chord, contains the notes Bb-D-F-C.

To build a Bbadd9 chord, take the major triad formula (1-3-5) and add in the theoretical ninth scale degree (1-3-5-9) using the Bb major scale, which has the notes Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A.

Notice how a major scale has just seven notes. How do we get the ninth scale degree? Repeat the scale and count nine notes:

Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A

Note: The ninth scale degree is underlined.

Identify the first, third, fifth, and ninth scale degrees in the Bb major scale which are Bb-D-F-C.
