Enter to Win a Kala KA-ASCP-T Tenor Ukulele ($389.99 Value!) by Playing a Song From Fingerpicking Tricks
As a Ukulele Tricks student in the Fingerpicking Tricks course, I wanted to do something fun for you and the rest of the students during this crazy pandemic.
Today I’m announcing that I’m giving away a ukulele to one lucky Fingerpicking Tricks student!
One of the aspects about learning to play ukulele online is that you get to see a whole lot of me, but I don’t always get to see a lot of you. Every now and then some of you will send a video to me of something you’ve learned on ukulele (which I always LOVE), but I want to find more opportunities where I get to see more of your lovely face and hear more of your ukulele playing!
It might be an encouragement to your ukulele playing to hear from me, but as your teacher, there’s nothing that makes me happier than hearing from you!
So to do that, starting today until the end of this month July 31, 2020, you and other Fingerpicking Tricks students can enter to win a Solid Cedar Kala KA-ASCP-T Tenor Ukulele ($389.99 Value!) by recording a video of you playing one of the selected pieces from the Fingerpicking Tricks course.
The All Solid Cedar Top with Solid Pau Ferro back and sides has a gorgeous asymmetrical rosette of Maple and Pau Ferro that helps give these ukuleles a very distinct look. The solid Cedar top provides this ukulele with a warm, sweet tone with excellent, loud projection. The solid Pau Ferro back and sides are a perfect audio and visual compliment to the solid Cedar top as they provide bright, clear tonal elements to this instrument’s sound. With the KA-ASCP-T at your side you can feel confident that you’ll be ready for any musical setting whether you’re in the studio or on stage.

Progress Sharing Submission
If you’re not up for playing a song, then, I just want to hear from you in a short 1-2 minute video. Tell me:
- What’s something you couldn’t play or do on ukulele before joining Fingerpicking Tricks?
- What’s something you can now do after learning with Fingerpicking Tricks?
Then, submit your video entry here.
As your teacher, I’d love to hear from you how you’ve grown as a ukulele player from learning with me in the course.
Note: There is a limit of one Progress Sharing Submission per person but no limit to Selected Song Submissions for a maximum of up to ten (10) Selected Song Submissions.
Pick One of These Pieces From Fingerpicking Tricks to Play
I’ve picked a selection of pieces from the four main parts of Fingerpicking Tricks. Pick one of these ten pieces to play to enter the giveaway:
- Aloha ‘Oe (Lesson #7)
- Frankie and Johnny (Lesson #9)
- Op. 6, no. 19 by Dionisio Aguado (Lesson #12)
- Étude in E Minor by Francisco Tárrega (Lesson #16)
- Minuet in G by Bach (Lesson #17)
- Für Elise by Beethoven (Lesson #17)

To enter, you must select one of the pieces from the list above and play the arrangement through as notated in the course. Pieces played only partially way through will not be accepted as entries into the contest. You can use my performance and the sheet music and ukulele tab as a guideline for the arrangement.
Note: You can upload more than one piece to gain multiple entries into the drawing!
Click here to enter the contest
You have until July 31, 2020 to enter into the contest, and on August 3, 2020, I will randomly draw a winner!
Tips for Recording a Video
I recommend using your mobile device, tablet or desktop computer’s webcam to record a video of yourself performing a song from above:
- Give yourself adequate time to practice the piece of your choice
- Ensure you and your ukulele are in the frame
- Ensure good audio quality by making sure you’re not too close or too far away from the camera
And most importantly, have fun!
Remember, this is for fun and perfection isn’t required. All that is required to enter is that you pick a piece from above and play it completely. I won’t be judging or criticizing your performances and the winner will be picked at random. As I said above, it brings me great joy to hear you play.
Once you have the video file saved, you can select it to upload it to the contest entry form here.
Good luck and let’s make some music!
